Batemans Marine Park - recreational and commercial activities

The Batemans Park Zoning Plan (effective from 30 June 2007) aims to conserve marine biodiversity while allowing sustainable recreational and commercial activities.

The summary below shows the activities permitted in general use, habitat protection and sanctuary zones. It is best used in conjunction with a printout of the marine park zoning map.

If you are interested in an activity requiring a permit, print out an application and fax/post the completed form to the marine park.

Special conditions for commercial and recreational activities

    (a) Haul netting permitted only on Long, Wimbie, Rosedale, Barlings, Maloneys & Tuross beaches; beaches between Mullimburra Pt & Meringo Lake; beaches between Broulee Island & Broulee Head

    (b) Not in estuaries

    (c) Seasonal fishing restrictions &/or bait collecting restrictions apply in some areas

    (d) Fisheries Management Act 1994 applies (gear restrictions, bag & size limits, licence requirements)

    (e) Recreational haul nets allowed in recreational fishing havens but not other habitat protection zones

    (f) Collecting invertebrates prohibited in some habitat protection zones. Collecting cunjevoi prohibited in all habitat protection zones

    (g) Limited to < 10 kg per person per day

    (h) Limited to < 20 ltr per person per day

    (i) Not over seagrass
