Hammer Head Sanctuary Zone
This zone encompasses the beach and reef at Hammer Head Point and the beach north of Hammer Head Point to a point on the southern side of Bulls Waterhole. It extends from the mean high water mark south of the reef at Hammer Head Point due east for 500m, then due north approximately 1.2km, then due west for approximately 0.9km to a point 500m from the shore, then north at a distance of 500m from the mean high water mark to a point due east of the southern side of Bulls Waterhole, then west to the mean high water mark on the beach.
Kinghorn Habitat Protection Zone
This zone extends from the mean high water mark to 500m offshore, from the rock/sand interface on the northern side of Kinghorn Point south to a point adjacent to the southern side of Bulls Waterhole adjoining Hammer Head sanctuary zone. There are restrictions on taking marine species within this zone (see Table 5).
Blacks Cave Creek Sanctuary Zone
This zone includes the tidal waters and tidal lands of Blacks Cave Creek upstream of the main channel of Currarong Creek, and extends upstream of a line from the tip of the fork in the creek due east to the creek bank, to the mean high water mark and to the tidal limit.
Beecroft Habitat Protection Zone
This zone encompasses an area from the northern end of Currarong Beach to Crocodile Head (see Key Map in front fold-out). It extends from the mean high water mark to 500m offshore, from the southern side of Hammer Head Point to due north of the northern extremity of Little Beecroft Head, then to the marine park boundary, from due north of the northern extremity of Little Beecroft Head to due east of the south eastern extremity of Crocodile Head. It includes Currarong Creek and all tidal waters and lands not otherwise included in sanctuary zones or general use zones, including all the creeks, bays and tributaries, to the mean high water mark and to the tidal limit. There are restrictions on taking marine species within this zone (see Table 5).
Drum and Drum Sticks Sanctuary Zone
This zone extends from the mean high water mark on the Drum and Drum Sticks outwards to 50m around the rock outcrop as a group.
Map 5. Point Perpendicular – Crocodile Head
Point Perpendicular – Crocodile Head Sanctuary Zone
This zone extends from the mean high water mark eastward to the marine park boundary (approximately 1.5km offshore) from the southeastern extremity of Crocodile Head to the southern extremity of Point Perpendicular.
The Docks Sanctuary Zone
This zone extends from the mean high water mark on the northern side of Gardeners Gully north west to the southernmost extremity of the headland 400m west of Bream Creek (Boat Harbour), then generally south east following the mean high water mark to the point north of Gardeners Gully, including all creeks, bays and tributaries to the mean high water mark and to the tidal limit.
The Tubes seasonal no anchoring area
The seasonal prohibition on anchoring applies during November-April over an area that extends approximately 300m seaward of the Outer Tubes, immediately south of the Docks Sanctuary Zone. It extends from the mean high water mark at the southern boundary of the Docks Sanctuary Zone (Gardeners Gully) south following the mean high water mark to a point 500m south of Gardeners Gully, then 300m due west to a point, then due north to intersect with the Docks Sanctuary Zone.
Groper Coast Sanctuary Zone
This zone extends from the mean high water mark to 300m west of the shore, commencing at a point approximately 200m south of Honeymoon Bay to the southernmost part of Dart Point.
Hare Bay Sanctuary Zone
This zone extends from the mean high water mark, at a point adjacent to ‘the Ladders’ on the northern end of Long Beach (250m south of Montagu Point), 3.3km due west to a point, then 4.1km due north to the rock/sand interface on the western side of Red Point (also known as Red Rock). It includes the tidal waters and tidal lands of Carama Inlet and all its creeks and tributaries to the mean high water mark and to the tidal limit.
Wowly Gully Sanctuary Zone
This zone includes the tidal waters and tidal lands of Wowly Gully to the mean high water mark and to the tidal limit.
Upper Currambene Creek Sanctuary Zone
This zone incorporates the tidal waters and tidal lands of the upper reaches of Currambene Creek upstream from a point west of Goodland Road, to the mean high water mark and to the tidal limit.
Currambene Creek Mudflats Sanctuary Zone
This zone encompasses the area of mudflat bounded by the port navigation markers in the lower section of Currambene Creek. It extends from the mean high water mark 100m downstream from the Woollamia Regional Boat Ramp east to a port navigation marker, then south (downstream) following the line of the port navigation markers to the intersection with the Huskisson Special Purpose Zone, then west to the channel draining the Fish Reserve at Lady Denman Heritage Complex. It includes the mangrove boardwalk.
Huskisson Sanctuary Zone
This zone extends from a point at the mean high water mark near the southern entrance to Currambene Creek, north east 1.1km to a point, then due east 1km to a point, then due south 1.3km to a point, then south west 1.3km to the edge of the southern extent of the submerged reef at Tapalla Point, then north west to the mean high water mark at the sand/rock interface at the northern end of Huskisson Beach, then generally north west following the mean high water mark along the shore to the point near the southern entrance to Currambene Creek.
Currambene Creek Habitat Protection Zone
This zone includes all the tidal waters and tidal lands of Currambene Creek not included in the sanctuary zones or special purpose zone, to the mean high water mark. There are restrictions on taking marine species within the zone (see Table 5).
Huskisson Wharf Special Purpose Zone
This zone encompasses the area of Currambene Creek between the creek entrance and the Currambene Creek Mudflats Sanctuary Zone and extends from the mean high water mark on the southern bank of Currambene Creek across to the mean high water mark on the northern bank of the creek. Fishing and collecting activities allowed in habitat protection zones are also allowed within this zone.
Moona Moona Creek Sanctuary Zone
This zone includes the tidal waters and tidal lands of Moona Moona Creek, including all its creeks and tributaries, from a point 50m upstream from the western side of the road bridge, to the mean high water mark and to the tidal limit.
Hyams Beach Sanctuary Zone
This zone extends from mean high water mark at the rock/sand interface on the southern end of Nelsons Beach, north east approximately 1.5km to a navigation marker, then due east 2.0km to a point, then due south to the Commonwealth waters boundary then south west along the Commonwealth boundary to the intersection with the HMAS Creswell special purpose zone, then in an arc along the boundary of that zone to an intersection again with the Commonwealth waters boundary, then north maintaining a distance of 100m east of the mean high water mark to a point due east of the rock/sand interface at the northern end of Chinamans Beach, then west to the mean high watermark, then north following the mean high water mark to the commencement of the zone on the southern end of Nelsons Beach.
Hyams Beach Habitat Protection Zone
This zone extends from the mean high water mark to 100m offshore, from the rock/sand interface at the northern end of Chinamans Beach south to the Commonwealth waters boundary. This zone abuts the Hyams Beach Sanctuary Zone. Spearfishing is not permitted in this zone. There are restrictions on taking marine species within the zone including from rock platforms and beaches (see Table 5).
HMAS Creswell Special Purpose Zone
This zone extends in a radius of 500m from the boat harbour at HMAS Creswell to a point where the arc intersects the Commonwealth waters boundary both generally east and west of HMAS Creswell. Anchoring is not permitted in this zone. Fishing and collecting activities allowed in habitat protection zones are also allowed within this zone.
Bowen Island Sanctuary Zone
This zone extends from the Commonwealth land and waters boundary to 100m offshore, from due east of the Tumbledown (on the eastern side of Bowen Island) south to Governors Head (on Bowen Island the Commonwealth boundary is at the mean high water mark).
Map 15. St Georges – Steamers Head
St.Georges – Steamers Head Sanctuary Zone
This zone extends from the mean high water mark at the eastern extremity of Steamers Head due south to the boundary of the marine park, then south west following the marine park boundary to a point due south of St.Georges Head, then north to the mean high water mark, then north east following the mean high water mark to the eastern extremity of Brooks Rock, then across to the western extremity of Steamers Head, then following the mean high water mark around to the eastern extremity of Steamers Head.
Steamers Beach Habitat Protection Zone
This zone encompasses the area north of a line from the eastern extremity of Brooks Rock across to the western extremity of Steamers Head, around the shoreline and beach, to the mean high water mark. There are restrictions on taking marine species within the zone including from rock platforms (see Table 5).
Wreck Bay Habitat Protection Zone
This zone extends from the mean high water mark to 2.5km offshore from the Wreck Bay shoreline due south of St.Georges Head to the marine park boundary on the northern side of Sussex Inlet (see Key Map in front fold-out). There are restrictions on taking marine species within the zone including from rock platforms (see Table 5).
