Solitary Islands Marine Park - recreational and commercial activities

The Solitary Islands Marine Park Zoning Plan aims to conserve marine biodiversity while allowing sustainable recreational and commercial activities. This summary shows the activities permitted in general use, habitat protection and sanctuary zones.

Note: = permitted = prohibited  * = NSW fishing licence/permit under Fisheries Management Act required, P = permit required. Special conditions are indicated by (a) to (e).

Special conditions for commercial and recreational activities

(a) Prohibitions apply to specific areas

(b) Beach hauling is permitted in designated areas within daylight hours and weekdays only at Park Beach, Sandy Beach, Woolgoolga Front Beach, Arrawarra Beach, Station Creek Beach (southern end)

(c) Not permitted in estuaries with the exception of personal water craft crossing the lower reaches of the Sandon, Corindi and Wooli rivers at slow speeds from the lowest boat ramp to enter & exit the river

(d) Only scoop, landing, scissor (push) or hoop recreational nets permitted for taking prawns & crabs in the habitat protection zone

(e) No collecting at Diggers Camp rock platform or Moonee Beach
